We are located in one of the most picturesque parts of Ireland in a village made famous through film and song. Our school is an extension of the home and local community where your child’s well being and happiness is valued above all else. Diversity and inclusion are encouraged here through our school ethos and a very supportive community

General Information

  • School opening times: 9.20 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. (infants finish at 2.00 p.m.)
  • Children are not permitted in school grounds prior to 9.10 a.m.
  • Lunch break: 11.00 a.m. to 11.10 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. to 1.00 p.m.
  • All visitors to the school are required to sign the visitor's book. Parents collecting children early are also required to sign the child out in the visitor's book.
  • Phone-calls will not be taken during class instruction but messages left through text or the school answering service will be returned as soon as possible.
  • Sales representatives will only be seen by appointment as this school has a teaching principal.

Say YES to Languages

Leenane National School is very proud to be taking part in this years " SAY YES TO LANGUAGES"

The aims of the module are to:

Generate awareness among pupils of the range of languages used by their peers, including Irish Sign Language, in their schools and communities which may help support greater inclusion and appreciation of diversity in society,

Encourage uptake of languages at post-primary level,

Provide opportunities for increased levels of collaboration among the school community with regard to the celebration of languages and cultures,

Support implementation of Languages Connect, Ireland’s Strategy for Foreign Languages in Education 2017–2026.
